2020 United Way Campaign Off to a Great Start!
20 October, 2020 No Comments on 2020 United Way Campaign Off to a Great Start!Mesa County, Colo. — United Way of Mesa County’s fundraising is off to an encouraging start. “Pacesetters” at thirty companies have kicked off this year’s fundraising efforts for the 2020-21 fundraising drive and many have completed their campaigns! Our Pacesetter Kickoff drive-thru event was sponsored by Alpine Bank.
Most of United Way’s fundraising occurs in workplaces around Mesa County. Employees at 30 local Pacesetter businesses and organizations give back to the community through United Way. The Pacesetters get a head start fundraising in August. At the Community Kickoff drive-thru event, sponsored by FCI Constructors, United Way handed out materials to our community campaign workplace coordinators. They were eager to start their fundraising to help us reach our goal of $1 million dollars. By raising hundreds of thousands of dollars, they challenge the rest of the community to donate.
“We are deeply grateful to our Pacesetter companies and their employees who have contributed generously in this phase of our annual fundraising campaign,” said Zebulon Miracle United Way’s Executive Director. “There just aren’t simple solutions to the complex issues facing our community, and that’s why it’s important for people from all sectors and all walks of life to work together to understand local problems, and support local solutions. When we come together, we can do amazing things to improve our community.”
United Way of Mesa County fights for the health, education and self-reliance of everyone in Mesa County. Health means people are connected to regular, quality health services. Education means all children enter kindergarten ready to learn and more students will be reading at grade level by 4th grade. Self-reliance means basic needs are met so people can remain independent. United Way believes if these three goals are achieved, people have a better chance for success and our community will be stronger and more viable. This year, United Way aims to raise $1,000,000 towards these efforts.
From now until mid-November, workplaces around our community are encouraged to help raise money for United Way and collaboratively invest in our community. Starting a workplace campaign is easy and rewarding. Whether you’re a small business or a major corporation, you can join the efforts of about 100 local organizations that run workplace campaigns every year. Workplace campaigns make it possible to give any amount of money directly through your paycheck, making it easier to give.
United Way is currently funding 43 local programs, offering free technical assistance to those programs and is working with several community groups to make strides in health, education and self-reliance.
We thank our 2020-21 Pacesetters!
