About United Way’s Grant Making Process
United Way of Mesa County has a two-year grant cycle beginning every other year in October. The first step in the process is this eligibility determination. The next eligibility period begins October 1, 2021, for the 2022-2024 grant cycle. Organizations found eligible will be invited to apply for program funding. Program Funding applications for eligible agencies will be due in December 2021.
In February of the grant cycle, a diverse group of community volunteers are trained to evaluate programs for efficiency, effectiveness and accountability. These Allocation Panels review funding applications and make site visits to each program in February and March. Funding recommendations are made to the United Way Board of Directors for approval. Programs are notified of funding decisions in May. Payment of grants is made quarterly beginning July 1.
