About United Way’s Grant Making Process

United Way of Mesa County has a two-year grant cycle beginning every other year in November. The 2022-2023 grant cycle began November 1st, 2021 and closed December 15th. 

In February of 2022, a diverse group of community volunteers were trained to evaluate programs for efficiency, effectiveness and accountability. These Allocation Panels reviewed funding applications and made site visits to each program that applied in February and March. Funding recommendations were made to the United Way Board of Directors for approval. Programs will be notified of funding decisions in May. Payment of grants is made quarterly beginning July 1.
