Statewide Children’s Book Drive Begins in April
28 March, 2019 No Comments on Statewide Children’s Book Drive Begins in AprilMesa County, Colo. — During the month of April, United Way of Mesa County, EPIC (Executives Partnering to Invest in Children) and local businesses are partnering to run a local book drive for children’s books. People may drop new and used books off at more than 16 locations across the valley from April 1st – April 30th. Once the donation period is over, United Way will collect and distribute the books to local children. The giveaway will take place Saturday, May 11th from 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at Mesa Mall’s Claire’s Court. It’s open to all children.
The following locations will collect books through the end of April:
Alpine Bank branches
American Furniture Warehouse
Bank of the San Juans branches
Bellco Credit Union
Mesa County DHS
Rocky Mountain Health Plans
United Way of Mesa County
Colorado Mesa University
Children’s books, when paired with positive adult-child interactions, provide a critical foundation for healthy early childhood development. Last year, United Way of Mesa County distributed over 3,500 donated books to local children.
Colorado Business Reads is a signature initiative of EPIC. A membership-based organization of top executives, EPIC promotes early childhood care, education, health and parenting as the highest priority for public and private investment in Colorado. Since 2013, EPIC has collected and distributed nearly 500,000 books to children and families in Colorado.
